Erickson: More Low and Moderate Income Taxpayers
Can Get "Tax Back"
Harrisburg – The latest version of Pennsylvania's TAX BACK program
will save more families hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars in state
income tax, Sen. Ted Erickson (R-26) said today.
Income and number of dependents affect how much TAX BACK you may get,
said Erickson. The program now includes many more working families than
it used to, since child dependent allowances are higher.
For example, as of 2002, a family of four can earn $31,000 and get as
much as $868 in state TAX BACK. And a single-parent, two-child family
with income of $24,500 may get $686 back.
"This is a great program that a lot of families still don't know
about," said Erickson. "I urge low and moderate income taxpayers to look
into the income eligibility guidelines and see if they qualify."
Eligible taxpayers must fill out a state income tax form PA-40 and
include PA Schedule SP. Both forms must be filed by April 15, 2003.
Call 1-888-PATAXES (1-888-728-2937) for special TAX BACK instructions
or to have forms mailed or faxed.
