Erickson: Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Services Can
Apply Now for State Grants
Deadline to provide information is September 30.
Harrisburg – Volunteer fire and ambulance services can apply now for
state grants under a $25 million program to help emergency responders,
according to Sen. Ted Erickson (R-26).
Erickson said the grants range from $2,500 to $15,000 and can be used
for construction or renovation of facilities, as well as the repair or
purchase of equipment, debt reduction, and training and certification of
members.
"Emergency responders are vital to the health of the community, and
while the dedicated volunteers receive no pay, the equipment and
facilities they need to do their jobs are very expensive," said
Erickson. "I urge our local volunteer fire companies and ambulance
services to look into these grants. I also urge citizens to support
their local emergency responders with contributions. They need community
support."
Erickson said that volunteer fire and ambulance services must return
the W-9 form recently mailed to all eligible units by the Office of the
State Fire Commissioner. The form must be received by the OFSC no later
than Sept. 30.
